I am having a problem with my 2000 F-250. Usually after it sits for about two hours or overnight the engine will startup than just shut down, and it will continue to do this until you can hold down on the gas pedal and brake and take-off. But, after running the truck for about 30 mins. it will work fine. Also, I noticed that when it stops the rmps will gradually (quickly) drop below the 500 rpm mark and the engine will shut off.
My father thinks it may be the Catylitic Converter, but the Check Engine light has not stayed on yet, but I need to find out what is wrong because I cannot afford any down time soon.
Thanks for any information.

Its prob the IAC, Idle air control valve. It controls air bypass, I believe, at idle. My 99 5.4 has been doing the same thing intermittently, so I am just going to replace it. You can test with a multimeter, and the process is stated in other IAC postings and its in the Haynes repair manaul
Hey, I took that advice you gave me and will be installing the new IAC tomorrow and will let you know how it turns out. Sorry about posting to the wrong fourm thread.
