Very possible that there is air in the cooling system and more then likely in the heater core...therefore, no flow, no heat. One way to cure this is to open the cap on the radiator, and watch the antifreeze level while the engine is running. Let it warm up and as the level drops, add more. You could also have blocked lines going to the heater core. After the engine warms up, feel the in and out lines to see if you are getting any warmth from them. One should be warmer then the other. If none of this works, then check the temp control switch to make sure it is still working good. My heater wil chase you out of the vehicle its gets so damn hot. So with yours and a new core, it should work.

Check the Anti-freeze to water ratio in the system. When I was younger I had the bright idea to fill the radiator up with 100% anti-freeze. Turns out you need the water to carry heat

ok i will try feeling the hoses/heater control and i've also read about the blend door only being open one way or the other so i will look into that as well

it is about 50:50 antifreeze/water so thats not it

we put a new T-stat in about 3 weeks as well so thats not it

i swear this truck was great up until 140,000 (even though we bought it with 128,000) but in the past 3,000 mi. we have a bad heater core - fixed that, cracked head - gettin a new motor since a pair of heads isnt much cheaper than a new motor with warranty, no heat - im on that right now, and now the idiot light went off this morning........not exactly what i call "cool"

Try a local parts store first. Something like that should be pretty common so they should carry it. If not then start looking at some of the local salvage yards. You could prolly get one of those for about $5. Now ya did say that the heater core was just replaced......was everything hooked back up? What about vacuum lines? Where any knocked off in the process? All of them still connected and no cracks?

Sorry...I've been gone for a couple of days. You should be able to just remove the center bezel for the heater controls to replace the switch. The center panel has some clips that just press into the main part of the dash. just be careful pulling on em so you don't crack the bezel. If you aren't sure about removing it....take the truck to a local stereo shop. Since the radio is in the same sections, you can ask em to to just remove the bezel for you or they can tell you just how to remove it without breaking it.

well i put the switch in from my dads 97 since hes gone and its just sittin there (well i been drivin it actually) so i know that his heater works great. but with his switch there was still no change. even used some electrical contact cleaner on the contacts and that did nothing. what now?

Have you checked the temperature control ****. I bought a used 99 F250LD and my wife started complaining that there was no heat, even when cranked. After reading a bunch of posts here (great site BTW) someone mentioned that the ***** can strip quite easily. Easy check, pull the temp control **** off and turn it with a pair of pliers, and see if the heat improves. If I really inspected the old ****, you could see a hairline crack, which evidently is enough to let the **** spin freely. The know **** was relatively cheap, but I can't remember the cost off the top of my head.
