This is my first post, but I have been reading all of the posts for several weeks now and want everyone to know that I have learned alot from all of the posts I have read. I have just completed the install on my Autometer guages, MBRP exhausts and performance chip. The previous posts on gauge install etc. made it possible for me to do all of my own install. Now for the noise, it is from what appears to be some sort of pump, located on the right side, mounted high. It starts as soon as you turn on the ignition and never stops, Any idea what this is and is it normal?

Actually , yes it did. When you first turn the ignition on, you can hear it, but it only lasted for a few seconds, then shuts off. Now it stays on. It is some type pump, I just don't know what it is for?

Thanks for any advice!!
From the area you descibe... It's the Vacuum Pump.. It's mounted on the right (passenger side) topside inner fender well area.. Its a small electric/motor/pump.. You can make it run (if it has shut off) to 'verify' by turning the 'key on' no start, and let the fuel pump 'time out' as well as the ABS 'grunt' (second or two) if your foot is off the brake.. Now reach over and switch the A/C/heater/defrost back and forth between vents.. You'll hear the 'hiss' of the vacuum being used/spent.. The vacuum pump will 'usually' run for about 15 seconds or so, but can be longer.. It will shut off if the key is left on, but if it runs continuously there may be a problem/leak.. Usually if theres a leak the heater vent will 'default' to defrost..
