my truck, an xlt sport with the split front seats with the center fold down council has squeaky seats. both the passengers and drivers seats do it and on long trips it can get annoying. anyone else have this problem??
Top or bottom squeeks? If it.s the top portion of the seat it's the springs that are for the lumbar. They rust in the holders and make a very annoying squeek. Mine squeeked until I took the cover off the rear of the seat and sprayed some silicone lube where the springs hook to the frame.
i kinda wanted to get an idea of what might be causing the squeak and if i could fix it myself. i dont want to loose my truck for even more time at the dealer to replace the seats if it is something simple.

Well in that case, my old truck had a seat squeek. 2002 F-350 SC LB SRW Lariat The dealer fixed it under warranty, it's easier to replace the actually seat than to remove the cover and sort through the foam and replace the spring system. Total invoice bill was $900.
You don't have to dig thru the seat foam at all, what is squeeking is right behind the cover. The back of the seat cover has two push clips on the bottom. Pull them free and they are two hooks on the sides and two on top. Be careful how you pull them as they can break very easily. Once you have the cover off you will see a two springs. Lube where they attach to. At the top and bottom. Don't use too much spray cause the truck will stink of it. You could try bringing it to the dealer for them to fix but it proboly won't make noise for them. Sorry, can't duplicate problem is what they will tell you. Having Ford replace the seats cause of noises is like hell freezing over. get my point? Anyway, let me know if you need more info.
already went through the, we couldnt duplicate the sound at my old dealer. well, did you go about 75 on a bumpy section of road, no a small guy who weights 100 lbs dripping wet sat in the truck in the parking lot and couldnt make it do anything. well duh, gotta love a response like that. truck goes in on wednesday for an exhaust leak, lets see, 3 times at my old dealer, and now this is the second at my new dealer. they already tore the engine apart to replace the head gaskets and rear main.
and the best part, i get to drive a taurus while my truck is in the shop. seems like a comparable vehicle.
