Is there an easy way to test out to see if my auto hubs are working. When I engage 4wd almost instantly a low "growl" noise can be heard from the front drivers side. Then I hear a loud "clunk" and the truck will jerk to one side. I know the 4wd is not on all the time, but I want to know if there is an easy way to check if the hubs are bad??? This is like my second post here.
Well, I have replaced the auto's with warn manual hubs. Works great now. The conversion was pretty straight foward, and took around 1.5 hours to do both.
Easyest way to check them would seriosly go play in slick mud have a buddy watch and see if your tires are spinning and if they do and stop does the other one spin if both dont spin then 1 or both hubs arent working if you want a cheap fix (really not so cheap) go to a wrecking yard and get some hubs (if you can find them) but id invest in manual locking ones there ALOT stronger and more reliable i wish id invested in mine before my bronco went to auto heavin ! (a buddy had manual ones, i had auto i went through 4 pairs in 1 year, he was still on his manual upgrades and still is to this day)
