A seaman met a pirate while in port, and they got to talking about their various adventures while at sea. The pirate looked the part with a pegleg, a hook, and an eye patch. After a while, and a little rum, the seaman couldn't contain his curiosity any longer so he asked, "So, how did you end up with the peg leg?"
"We were caught in a terrible storm at sea, the waves were crashing across the decks. I were caught off guard for an instant and was swept overboard into a school of sharks. As me men were pulling me back aboard, one of the sharks got ahold of me leg and bit it off," the pirate replied.
"Wow, that's awful," the seaman said. "And how did you get the hook?"
"Well, we were boarding an enemy vessel and had a bad fight with them. It raged back and forth, and I were fightin' the biggest and nastiest of 'em all. He swung his sword, it caught me blade just in the wrong way and it took me hand clean off, and so I had to get this hook," said the pirate.
"Oh that's just terrible," said the seaman. "And how about the eyepatch? I'm sure there's and exciting story to that one, as well," asked the seaman.
"No, not really. A seagull dropping fell in me eye," replied the pirate.
"You lost your eye to a seagul dropping ?" asked the seaman incredulously.
"Not exactly," the pirate said. "It were the first day with the hook."
