Will transfer case fit

I have a 79 F150 4x4. It has a 351m with a manual tranny. I friend has a c-6 out of a 77 F150 4x4 with a 400m. Will that c-6 bolt up? Will my transfer case fit, or do I need to find one that was bolted to an auto to begin with?

Thanks,
Sam

All you need is the adapter that goes from the tranny to t-case. This will be different for the C6 than it was for your 4 speed. These can be found at junkyards or on ebay from time to time and they'll be pretty cheap ($10-$50 all depending on who it comes from). The transmission will fit your engine fine. They're the same block, just with different stroke lengths.

What "adapter pate" is that? I removed a c-6 from a 77 f150 and I don't remember seeing anything between the tranny and the transfercase. The case just bolted to the back side of the tranny. Now I am confused. Maybe I am getting old and my memory is going.

Here is a picture of a 4 speed adapter plate to give you an idea of what they look like.

if the C6 is a 4x4 unit you don't need any other adapter
