After reading some posts about disconecting the EGR, I decided to give it a shot yesteday mornign...truck ran find for about 10 miles or so, and then my check engine light came on...from reading posts, thats not suposed to happen right?? Truck ran fine even after the light....except two or three times I heard the dreadful droan noise when I let off the pedal after getting on it hard...My edge package arrived today, and I cant install it since I might have to make a trip to the dealer...I disconected the batteries for the night...maybe itll clear and codes or what not...anyway...you guys have any clue about this issue???
*edit* Trying to be helpful, so please don't take this the wrong way.
You might try posting this in the EGR sticky. . .
Also, if you read all the way through the EGR sticky - one of the posts at the top of the forum that say Read First:, you'll find that some trucks, especially those that have had the California emissions flash, do turn on the check engine light when the EGR connector is removed.
If you reconnect the connector and run through several engine on / off cycles it should clear the code and turn off the check engine light.

Yep, you've got one of those dreadful Kalifornia trucks that will set the light as Daryl said...
say thank you to your enviroidiot carb board
and just trying to help here... but maybe someone is confused here... (probably me it doesn't take much)
we need to come up with a glossary so we all know what our "adjectives" are to describe our trucks
I thought the "droan" was what was happened on some trucks at 1800-2000 rpms which has been said was from the turbo pedastels harmonics ?
and the "turbo fart" was what happened when you chopped the throttle after accelerating "briskly" which has been said was from the blowback of the turbo boost back out the air intake ?
and neither of which has anything to do with egr disconnects...
Sorry...my confusion on the droan/fart thing!!LOL and no I didnt read through all the egr stickys....there was a lot of them.... but the light went away this morning after the batteries being unplugged all night....thanx again guys

I'm living with mine on at the moment. You dont need to unplug the batteries to clear the dash light, it will go off after 4-5 cycles of starting the truck after you re-plug the EGR connector. I assume that this would leave codes in the memory somewhere though.
