My 1988 bronco II suddenly developed the following problem:
all lights are working except for the headlights (low and high).
my first approached was to replaced the headlights and then
the headlight switch. the fuses are okay. I started looking
into the wiring harness with no success. I'm lost. does anyone
have any idea what may fix this problem? If you do, please reply
asap.
Thank you for your reply. My ford Bronco II uses the switch SW2103. this pull out switch has 2 positions. the first for parking and fully open for the headlights. the **** is use to dim or brighten the instrument panel and interior lights. is the dimmer switch part of the this switch? if not, where is the dimmer switch located? I
have tried to trace the wires going into the headlight switch and
they appear to come from behind the instrument panel. Any more
ideas? once again thanks.
The dimmer switch will either be on the floor like they have been for years or integrated into the turn signal lever. Pull up or push down for high or low and flash to pass modes.

yep!! been there too! unplug the wiring harness on top of the headlight switch and look for places where the connector has gotten hot (mine was and the lights would go off and i would almost pull the switch from the dash to get them back on again) replaced that===geuss what? same problem!! finally went to Ford and bought one of their switches===you geussed it!! same thing- there is a cure though---take the steering column cover off and look at the connector on the top of column and i believe it was towards the right of the column facing forward---it was melted also!! got both connectors from junk yard====problem solved--i don't have aclue as to what got them hot though---good luck
