Shopping - some questions

Me and my wife are looking at either an F-150 XLT SCrew or Titan SE Crew.

She will be the primary driver. But I want to use it for dragging a pair of dirtbikes (Honda XR's) to the mountains in the summer months.

Our questions:

- how would a truck do for day to day stuff like getting groceries? How would you store the bags in the bed without stuff spilling all over?

- what kind of cover would we need that would cover the bed for everday stuff, but would get out of the way for hauling the bikes?

- Since I'm 6'2" and my wife is 5'3", I like the idea of presets for seats/mirrors/pedals. Can I get that without going to a full boat Lariat?

- How good is the premium sound system? I'm pretty fussy about sound quality, and don't want to waste the money if I'm going to end up aftermarket anyway

- Why would you buy Ford vs. Nissan?

Thanks in advance...

I would buy a Ford over a Nissan simply because I would rather support our economy instead of a country that saw fit to attack us once. Other than that a Ford is a real truck and a Nissan is a bunch of recycled beer cans

??? how would a truck do for day to day stuff like getting groceries? How would you store the bags in the bed without stuff spilling all over?

I keep the bed extender in the back for just that purpose. It's perfect for keeping bags of groceries, cooler, small stuff from rolling around.

??? what kind of cover would we need that would cover the bed for everday stuff, but would get out of the way for hauling the bikes?

There's all kinds of lids and rolltop bed covers that you can use just for that. Search the forums for "bed cover" or "rolltop cover". There's been MANY discussions on this topic. Personally, I have the Retrax rolltop cover. It rolls up like a garage door when you need it!

???Since I'm 6'2" and my wife is 5'3", I like the idea of presets for seats/mirrors/pedals. Can I get that without going to a full boat Lariat?

Check on forvehicles.com - I think you can add the memory seats as an option to any F-150 without buying the Lariat (though I would recommend the Lariat - I love mine!)

???How good is the premium sound system? I'm pretty fussy about sound quality, and don't want to waste the money if I'm going to end up aftermarket anyway

The Audiophile system is GREAT! It's worth the extra $$$$ to keep a factory system. I have no complaints (and I'm picky about sound!)

??? Why would you buy Ford vs. Nissan?

Personally, there is no Nissan dealer within 200 miles. I live two blocks from my local Ford Dealer!

Good luck on your truck search. I hope you find a truck you LOVE!

Thanks for the reply Ken. I'm against the Lariat because we don't like leather seats. Too cold / hot. I'll keep the leather on the couch in front of the home theater

Heaterman, I guess I should have been more specific about Ford / Nissan. What "product related" reasons favor Ford over Nissan.

And check my sig and location. Japan never attacked us, and since there is no Canadian auto manufacturer, I have free reign on my choices.

Thanks arcturner. That's the type of response I was hoping for. I'll check out the site.

On the "problems" front, a quick survey of this site indicates head problems, rear / bed vibrations and a couple other small complaints not worth mentioning. Just trying to get both sides of the story.

fragment: also keep in mind the sheer numbers of Ford trucks out there compared to the Titans. That other site was designed to be just like this one: for enthusiasts. I'll bet you get stuck sifting through that other site for hours - I did.
