Hello all - I have a 1996 F350 with the 460 with 42000 miles on it. I bought it used so I don't know the maintenance history prior to the purchase. At about 34000 miles I replaced the fuel filter, cap and rotor, nothing else has been done (other than oil and air filter changes).
Here's my problem - whenever the truck has been sitting in the sun, it seems unusually hard to start. It cranks over a bunch of times and if I'm lucky, will start, otherwise I need to stop and try again. It will usually start by the third try. This only happens when it's warm outside and the sun has been beating down on the hood. Gas evaporation? I was also wondering how easy a good running truck should start. 1-2 cranks? The truck runs smooth, no pinging, plenty of power. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
You will get some more specific answers on this site but you may want to drop a set of plugs in it if you haven't. That is pretty low mileage and sitting for extended periods of time may have effected it. I don't know what the heat would have to do with it, but.
