The only thing I liked about the 81 Toyota I had was the gas mileage. The interior was nice too, but a bit out of place in a truck. More at home in a Cressida or something. The original radio didn't work, so the previous owner installed an aftermarket tape deck under the glove box. It sounded pretty good.
The frame was rotted BAD. Every time I punched the gas, the frame would flex and the box would hit the back of the cab. The door skin was slowly separating itself from the door frame on both sides.
I found out the clutch master cylinder leaked just as I was leaving work one day, and had to drive home with no clutch. I had to time the green lights just right, or stop the engine, and start it in gear to get going. Then I had to give my wife a crash course on how to bleed a clutch. (She got the "clean" job inside the cab.)
It didn't have a tailgate. Just a piece of 2 by 10.
It helped move a buddy into his first apartment too. The only non Ford truck I've ever owned.
