Intermittent 4x4 switch
Intermittent 4x4 switch
Wondering if anybody has had this problem...
The roof mounted 4x4 switch on my 86 BII works about 50% of the time. The button is in pretty rough shape, and my Ford dealership says it's obselete. If there's no fix for this, what other Fords used the same switch? Of course, if anyone knows a fix, that would be much better than buying a new one.

Intermittent 4x4 switch
When I bought my Bronco, the 4x4 worked.
Then next time I tried it didn't. My problem was with the motor on the transfer case was damaged. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
I have seen other posts on this site where folks talk of the need to engage the 4x4 at least once a month to keep it working.
There is a device under the dash on the passenger side the senses certain inputs prior to allowing the 4x4 to engage.
I do not know all the specifics; maybe I can look it up and get back to you.
