Hi all, I've been around this site for a number of years, but this is my first look at the Explorer etc. forum. The better half just bought a 94 Eddie Bauer Edition Explorer. It has fairly high miles,137K, but seems to be in nice shape except, the cruise control doesn't work and there is a rumble from the front end, but I think that is just bad tires. I'll rotate em to see if the noise moves. Anyway I'll be checking in from time to time. I also hang out at the Super Duty, 7.3 PSD, and '48-'60 forums.
Diagnosing the cruise should not be too hard. There are a few reasons it might not be working, but the obvious is fuses. If the fuses are goosd, make sure the horn works. The horn and cruise are tied together, and Ford has had a problem with the horn brackets grounding out - which in turn kills it and the cruise...
The horn works ok, so probably not the fuse. I haven't check it though. I'll need to take a little time to look for obvious stuff, but really haven't had time yet. Any hints would be appreciated.
My cruse control in my 94 has also died. I have checked all my fuses and vacume lines, but I have not yet removed the cover on the stearing wheel. I have a little squeaking noise when I turn the wheel, so I am thinking it could be the contacts or the wipers for the switches.
It is only two screws to remove the cover, but right now I have the center console out and am installing two radios (CB and 2 meter) as my main project. If you find anything before I get into mine, let me know. I of couse will do the same!
