HELP!!! '88 ranger wiring color code info
ok, bought a '88 ranger with the stereo ripped out. still have the harnesses but they dont match up with my new stereo. heres what the truck has. black harness- all solid colors, purple,yellow,red,green,white,blue, w solid purple and greens looping back into harness.
grey harness- red/w/ white stripe,yellow/w/black stripe,blue/w/red stripe with solid brown, pink,and black. any help here will be appreciated

I won't swear by this but..
It sounds like your grey harness is the speakers. Normally all of the wires with the pinks and greens and stripes are for speakers.
Also, NORMALLY, your red is your switched power, yellow is constant hot, and blue is power antenna. There are plenty of variations to this though. Take a test light to the harness with the ignition off, and find the hot wire. That should be your constant or battery. Turn the ignition on, and you will have either one or two more wires go hot. These will be your switched hot and power antenna. I honestly don't remember which of the others should be ground, but maybe someone else does. Also, look in the haynes or chilton's manual for your truck. That should have the wiring diagram for your stereo in it.
