Finally crapped out....

Well, after 127,919 miles I FINALLY had a failure of some sort. Kind of amazing I think (for a Powerstroke) to go that far with NOTHING but oil changes and a fuel filter every now and then.

#3 injector had a mechanical failure Saturday night heading down the interstate (couldn't even tell it had failed due to the cruise control until I stopped at the light at the exit). Since it wasn't blowing white or black smoke or filling the crankcase with diesel I kept on driving...about 350 miles on seven cylinders. Checked it out yesterday at lunch and found that #3 was getting a 115 volt frequency and the resistance value of the injector was fine (turns over evenly, so compression is good) ......gosh darn it. Wasn't prepared (money wise) for that to happen. $290 bucks. I'm thinkin' that a blown 533 BB is lookin' good right about now.....

Just figger'd I'd get it off of my chest.

Cody

{edit} I guess it could be worse (it could have been an IDM......)

Thats pretty good mileage until an injector went bad. They treat those injectors like gold. Was it hard to put on?Hopefully no more will go south. Id like to ride with you goin down the interstate.I bet you feel safe with that truck of yours. Keep on truckin Cody. 150ford.
