I just want to point out that the only piece of punctuation I can find in that ENTIRE... what, sentence? paragraph? unbearably long string of words? is a single question mark buried somewhere in the middle.

I'm not trying to pick on you, (well, maybe I am a little) but I honestly find it really difficult understand what you're saying/asking.

I have to agree about the punctuation, I am not too sure what you are asking...

I think he is looking into how the electric fuel pumps are wired up.???/

I am thinking there are no electric fuel pumps because it is carborated. My 83 F250 351w has not electric fuel pumps. It has the pump that works off the crank. The only thing electric is the tank switching unit and the 2 sending units(for amout of gas in tank). When it gets power it pulls from the front tank and w/o power it pulls from the rear tank. When the truck is turned off all the exess fuel goes into the rear tank, well it rean out that hose when I was playing with it.

I have an 85 F250 with 460 and dual electric pumps in the tanks. It has a carb. The power to the pumps not only goes thru the relay, selector switch, interia switch, but it also goes through a oil pressure switch. This switch is plumbed into the fitting for the oil pressure sending unit. Simple, no oil pressure no fuel pump. If the engine dies and the line is ruptured, the gas is not pumped all over the ground. My guess is if the wiring is all good, the pumps run when hot wired and you have changed the relay and inertia switch, try jumpering the oil pressure switch. If the pumps run, then the engine has no oil pressure or the switch is bad. Just my thoughts with punctuation.

LOL i didnt know i was having a spelling contest? and i didnt know all of you where english teachers. WOW! i must say im impressed NOT as far as the oil presure think the truck has plenty of it. Guy before the actual guy i bought it from him being the orignal owner of the truck changed out the rear main seal they also installed a high volume melling oil pump. Why? why the hell not i would to if i had the oil pan off my 2wd anyway it makes enough oil presure but ill try that trick to see if thats it. If its not that ill just leave it hot wired it works fine that way. Plus it wont be soemthing really special just used for some offraoding and winter driving condition where 4wd is helpful and needed. So since none of you actully really answered my questions besides jwrbooss302 but also threw his 2 cents in there which wasnt helpful i dont see why you all bothered to waist your time talking trash? Oh well i was a little excited about getting another truck and wanted to get the problems i had wrong with it posted on here to try and get some help so i typed it without any puncutuation i still could read it thought some of you could to and atleast help me out. But if you cant read it they dont even bother to post your thoughts about how i typed it out. Unless you actully have some useful information which none of you did except jwr. It just bothers me that you would type some trash about how i typed it out when most of you said you cant read it at all then dont even bother to write about it. I guess ill just figure it out on my own without the help of some of you what was i thinking anyways? OH WELL oh yeah can you read this post now? Or am i gonna feel like in dealing with my 9th grade english teacher/teachers

We are not talking trash; we just said we have a hard time understanding you when everything [your sentences] is ran together. We don't know what you are trying to say because _we_ aren't english teachers.

With that said, by the sounds of it, you have an F-250 with a 460 that has the hot fuel option. It has an electric pump with a supply & return gas line to the tank. The point of it is to keep circulating the fuel back&forth to the gas to keep it cool.. It sounds like the last guy bypassed the relay and oil pressure switch, like the last guy said. What you need to do is: get a haines manual, and trace the wiring for the system.

The other thing I got from your first post is that all the emission parts are messed up. Good luck on that one, almost all the parts you need to fix it are currently discontinued from ford, and since you live in CA, you'll need all the emissions equipment.

thanks for the reply and the info on figuring it out i guess the pumps stopped working completely. That is why the guy that i bought it from the second owner of the truck bypassed that and ran a wire to the pumps from a live plug in on the fuse panel when the key is turned on. As as the emission stuff its all there excpet the smog pump it siezed up all i have to do is either get another good used one or just take the one of my 84 2wd 250 and use it for the test then put it back on my 2wd. And then put a bole it on the back of the heads where the air line is or just on top of the air line itself. other then that it seems to be fine it runs ok need a carb rebuild for sure which im gonna do this weekend along with going junk yard shopping. It will be fun im looking foward to getitng it running good and driving it

Too funny. Myself? I was once young and stupid. Now I’m older... (It usually takes people a few minutes to get that one.)

As I sit here and enjoy the fruits of the IHOP senior menu, I’m just glad there’s no public record of my thought process when I was 19.

So did you ever get the truck sorted out?

Ya it's funny this was all back on a home PC Dell computer. Didn't even have smart phones and such like we do now. Yes I did get it all figured out and running well I kept it for awhile I actually sold it for 600 and a SuperChips tuner for my 02 F250 7.3 I bought maybe a year after this original post. Used to see it being driven around a lot before it finally up and vanished one day. Same with the 2wd I had I used to see that truck for maybe 5 years after I sold it.

Once upon a time, I used to reply to these kind of badly-written posts and try to gently & respectfully show the author how his posting style is making it hard for people to help him.

When I did that, the usual response was just like that given above - "i didnt no this was n english class if u wont help methen just shutup n leaf me alone blahblahblah."

I don't write such responses anymore; in fact, I don't even bother to read such posts anymore.

"Grow up" is my usual mental response to such attitudes, "FOAD" other times, it depends on my mood.

If the author becomes a regular contributor here and continues posting (and annoying people) like that, the forum software has a neato feature that allows me to ignore all posts made by said author.

It's a lot more fulfilling to help people who show some respect to people rather than waste my time on the children who apparently feel entitled to be spoon-fed.

~~

But thanks for coming back 10 years later and laughing about it.

Ya always more ideas then I cared to take time back then write up properly. Im still by no means great at it to this day but I've slowed my roll I guess and try. To me these really are something that brings me back in time I'm the original poster.
