Just got ready to get in the truck and realized that there was about 1/2 a quart of oil on the driveway. The back of the engine was wet all the way back to the tailgate. Drove it a couple miles to the dealer. They just called to tell me it was a high pressure oil line $500 to replace. AM I GETTING RIPPED?
Nope, sounds legit to me. I had the same thing happen to my '02 at 37000 miles. Oil everywhere...looked like a rear main leak, but it was leaking down the valley of the engine, around by the starter and down on the bell housing.
I experienced similar symptoms on mine and it turned out to be an oil line fitting to the right (driver's side) of the fuel filter. There are two hi pressure oil lines, one going to each side of the engine. The line wasn't defective, it was the o-ring on the fitting that had blown out, fitting was only hand tight!! Naturally, it was the lower hose, the upper is easy to access, I had to borrow an offset open end wrench and use it in conjunction with a regular open end to fully tighten it after I went to napa and got a replacement o-ring...if that's the problem, be sure to tell them it is for a hydraulic hose fitting.
Wow, ok I need to be educated here. I can clearly see both ends of the HPOP lines when I look. Why is it so labor intensive to replace? Do you have to pull the pump to replace the lines?
Sounds pretty damm fishy to me... I would definately call them on it..or just don't pay it until they explain.. Ford can be brutal for there service from what I've experienced.. Sorry guys.. had to be said !!

I believe that 352V8 was being facetious...hence the . $500 for a single HPOP line is just plain extortion.
make sure it is the line, and not the plugs in the heads! they are a buger, well 2 of them are anyway. front 2 are easy, but those rear ones are a killer!
