Vacuum Leak
I bought my BII for 400 bucks, and think I got a pretty good deal. I need some front end work which I can do once our house is done and I have a garage, and some body work which I can also do.
I had a problem though that I could not solves and the computer did not pick up (there are lots of things the computer can not tell you).
It seemed like I did not have much power accelerating and that it would suddenly gain power at a certain speed. I could not even get a smog check because it would not do the freeway test (my acceration rate was not as fast as the trace signal needed).
I thought maybe I had clogged injectors, or possibly a vacuum leak.
Since I am not very familiar with these new fangled engines, I took it to my favorite garage to be checked out. They confirmed a vaccum leak, a great big one! It turns out the lower intake manifold gasket has mostly dried up and crumbled away.
I found a set of intake gaskets for about 30 bucks at autozone and will be installing them as sooon as I get in to my new garage (the shop wanted 240.00 for labor) and once I do that it should run as well as a new car.
Well I hope this helps someone else.
