Thanks for the info. I recalled that the EFI was on some later trucks but was not sure of how embedded the system is in the wiring as I have not perused the schematics. Dicing and splicing is not a problem, am planning on rewiring mine w/ mil grade connectors and installing circuit breaker panel. I was looking mostly at the stand alone aspect of the Edelbrock system along with the hand held input toy. "Look mom, no chips!"

Yes, I agree that the Edelbrock stand alone unit does indeed look nice, is reliable, and hands down, easy to install. All that bling and convenience comes at a price. For the same money as the Edelbrock unit, you can buy a 1988 donor 5.8L and strip everything needed for the conversion plus the serpentine accessories. If the cab and front end are good, you can use those as well if you like.
