Dump truck

My friend has a tri-axle dump truck with a 18 speed tranny and a Cummins m-16 engine (i think) but he put the biggest fuel injectors and the biggest fuel pump and he can power brake it and white smoke the tires. He puts it in first and pops the clutch and it will smoke the tires. I wish I had a picture.

That would be a cool ride to take to homecoming! Smoke 'em right in front...

N 14, or M 11. Or an ISX which would be 15 liters. No 16 liter engine for Cummins.

Anyway, on to the tridem drive burnout. That would be an impressive sight. But I got to call BS. 3 axles trying to get traction will not be held back by steer axle brakes. More specifically, the steer axle brakes will not hold a truck stopped with 3 drive axles forcing the truck forward. Especially not in first gear on an 18 speed.

But if you had pictures...

i agree with bigrigfixer , i drive a 2004 pete dump truck with a 475 cat. sometimes when i am on a real sharp curve with a uphill incline i can drop in 2nd and get the rear tires to smoke em but only for a few seconds, i only have a 8 speed eaton fuller tranny, but power braking a 18 speed ?? i don't know about that seems like 1st gear would be a little low but anyway a picture would be worth a thousand words

Its possible, since usually the third axle isn't a drive axle. My younger brother used to freak his friends out with the "awesone" power of our tandem grain truck. He would just pump up the tag axle so the drive axle was barely touching the ground, then hammer on the gas. Lots of smoke and noise - no acceleration, and a bunch of stupid highschool boys thinking they had just seen a something.

only the middle axle works the 1st one it may work but he has it up all the time and the last one has bad gears.

Well, that I can see. So it really isn't a tridem drive then. Just a tandem drive with a tag. Thanks for clearing that up.

Kinda sounds like how a friend of mine sold a beat-up old V6 buick. He ran the windshield washer lines out right infront of the rear tires and filled the bottle with oil. Then he did this awesome burnout with all kinds of smoke. The guy not knowing anything about cars bought it thinking it was a big V8.
