I have a 98 Exporer and the Check Engine Light comes on when it rains or I drive through puddles. It will then be intermittent until I disconnect the battery. The light stays out until the next time it rains and the process repeats. I think it might be the oxygen sensor.
Can anyone tell me where the oxygen sensors are located and what they look like? Is it under the vehicle somewhere? I think that something under the vehicle is not sealed correctly or getting wet that would explain the puddle thing.
Thanks
John
Oxygen sensors are on exhaust pipes before and after cat conv. Next time CEL comes on, take it to Auto Zone or another place that will read the code. They can tell you if it's the o2 sensor, which one it is, sell you a new one, and even lend you the tool to make switching it out easier.
Good luck.
