This can't be right

I have a 04 f-250 CC PSD, the truck bld date is 6-04. Just got in from pulling a small 16 ft trailer with a bush hog on it. Used the tow/haul mode, now my truck runs rough, I mean very rough like it's missing or something. This just can't be right. what do you all think?? is it back to the dealer I go??

How many miles on it, any mods, has it ever been in the shop before.

No, that's not right. Does it still run rough when the T/H mode is not engaged?

If all else fails, disconnect both batteries and reconnect. This will cause the truck to go back through its learning sequence.

If you diconnect your battery as Darryl suggests, do the following which is a compilation of what is in your owner manual and a Ford bulletin:

For information on transmission operation after the battery has been
disconnected see “Shift strategy” in the driving section.
Because your vehicle’s engine is also electronically controlled by a
computer, some control conditions are maintained by power from the
battery. When the battery is disconnected or a new battery is installed,
the engine must relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum
driveability and performance. To begin this process:
1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
2. Put the gearshift in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission), turn off all accessories and start the
engine.
3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
6. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process.
• The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to
relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy.
• If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle
quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle
trim is eventually relearned.
If the battery has been disconnected or a new battery has been installed,
the clock and the preset radio stations must be reset once the battery is
reconnected.

TorqShift Harsh/Slipping Engagements, Upshifts, and/or Downshifts:
If these symptoms are experienced after the batteries have been disconnected, then it is due to the transmission adaptive strategy being cleared from the computer. This may occur when the vehicle is delivered new from the factory as well. Warm the engine and transmission to operating temperature. Perform three series of upshifts at light, medium and heavy throttle. Perform three sets of gear engagements (N-R, N-D, D-R, R-D) with the brake pedal firmly depressed and waiting three seconds between each engagement. Peform these steps once in normal mode and once in tow/haul. Broadcast Message 1196
