the recomended oil for my truck is 5w20, I live in Texas and it gets hot purdy often, do I change that to a 10w20 oil to get it to burn cooler? does such a mixture even exsist?
I know what you mean about the heat in Texas
I'm not sure if they make 10-20, but I don't think it would make much of a difference, and it might actually decrease you MPG slightly. The 5-20 is recommended because it can be pumped up to the cams faster and improve MPG.
hey - I found out that 10-20 does exist. but I went ahead and put a synthetic blend of 5-20, it's an '02 F-150 sport, and it doesn't have a record of over heating, and I don't do excesive hauling with it, or any incredible muddin', so I reckon it'll be just fine. we'll see over the next 3-5k miles
thanks fer your help

yup, that's where I got it, paid I think $1.87/QT, it was motorcraft. I changed the spark plugs earlier too and I noticed a significant difference in performance, it was great. I'm gonna go drive it now, and see what ti's like with the new oil.
thanks for your help
