Problems with no CEL?

My 95 2.3L 2WD Auto. has an intermittent case of erratic idle. Sometimes when I crank it up, it revs, then drops RPM's almost to a stall, then revs again and so on. I have no CEL on and I got the codes read and it shows up clear. From what I have been reading on FTE, I suspect a bad TPS, IAC, or EGR valve. Is it possible for one of these to go out or cause my truck to run bad and not kick on the CEL? Do any of you share/d the same problem, if so what did you do to fix it? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

a bad egr valve or tps would most likely throw a code. start by changing the IAC valve, i bet that is your problem. a bad IAC valve will cause your truck to run like crap without a CEL
