I would consider myself pretty well experienced in installing stereos and other equipment. Here's my dilema. I just bought a 76 Ford F250 4x4 and was planning on upgrading the speakers, head unit and putting in a subwoofer. After I got it home (had to be deliverd on semi trailer, long story) I realized that the gas tank is behind the seat! So does anyone have any suggestions on where to put a sub?
This might be a bit extreme, but you could relocate the gas tank to the traditional (and safer) position of under the bed, and then you'd have room behind the seat.
I have seen subs under bench seats and I think clarion makes a slim profile enclosed sub. I Have also seen a 8" in enter console on the hump between the dash and the seat.
You can always do one or two 15" in the bed for everyones pleasure...
Yea I guess your right about that.... I dont know why, I guess the wheels weren't turning upstairs, I completely forgot about the gas tank being in the way... Long week I guess.
What did you think about my door idea? I used to run 8in mid-bass woofers in my door. It doesnt take much to seal it.
I was actually tossing around the idea of mounting them up under the dash on the passenger side. Gut out everything behind the glove box and all that and mount a 10" up there. Not sure if that will work or not. It had crossed my mind to put them in the doors. Also thought about putting some rear fill speakers up in the corners of the ceiling. Any thoughts on that?
there are a few cars that compete in sound quality with a 10 or an 8 or even a couple 5's in the glove box. gary biggs buick comes to mind at the moment. check it out at www.teamgates.com
