Radiator cores

I noticed that www.shopdiesel.com has PSD radiator cores for sale here:

http://www.shopdiesel.com/index.cfm/...uct_id/428.htm

Does this mean that I can replace my old core and use my existing tanks? If so, I sure would appreciate hearing from someone else who has done this. The cores are $56 and a new radiator is several hundred, so I need to give this a look. THANKS!

You get what you pay for. I wouldn't have much faith in a $56 core. Go the extra and buy a compete radiator. It takes special tools to do a recore and if not done properly will damage the tanks. If that happens the core becomes useless and you will end up buying a new radiator anyway.

What he said. I have heard of this sort of thing before, it requires that you re-use the old plastic ends of your existing radiator. I have never had much faith in old plastic parts that have to carry heat. I replace plastic coolant flanges at work pretty near daily on various customer's cars. Good thing they are inexpensive.
Anyway don't bother with just the new core. You have to remove the end caps from your old radiator without damaging them in any way and clean them up to spotless and then reattach them to the new core. You have to get the core sealed up by hand with the strength that is provided by a machine on the production line of a new radiator. Your choice.
