Mystery Light

I recently acquired a '98 Ranger 3.0, Std, 4x4, ext cab. There is a small, opaque (3/16" diameter) indicator lamp on dash panel that I cannot find anywhere in the owners manual. This light is located on the black fascia trim midway between the steering column and the rheostat wheel for the dash lights. Nothing I turn on or engage (such as the 4 wheel drive) causes it to come on. Anyone know what this lamp would be?

Just a guess but it could be an indicator for an after-market alarm system. These usually flash when alarm is set.

its the auto-self destruct timer. Your truck will self-destruct in approxomatly 2 days. Just kidding, i know i've seen a post like this somewhere. It might have been a service reminder light or somthing. i'm not for sure. have you tried searching the forums?

What is going on here? You bought a Ranger? Not another A*??

I guess the jigg is up. No, I currently still have both, but with all the kids grown and gone, I can't justify using a 7 passenger Aerostar as a daily driver.

You still have to keep the A*. If not just to help people taking apart something on it yourself to answer their question!

If you could post a pic of it, that would make things much easier. Could the bulb behind it be burnt out and that is why nothing activates it?
