jury rigging engineer needed!!!

Hi all! I have a 70 model ford pickup and the wiring is a mess. I want to wire it up to start and run using a switch to run and kill the motor and a push button to start it. I dont remember where to hook the wires up to do that. Anyone have a clue? I appreciate anyones expertise.

To crank it you can connect a switch from +12 to the S terminal on the start solenoid. For ignition you need +12 to the coil ign terminal thru the original resistance wire or a separate ballast resistor.

Mike W just about has it. Just run a wire from the battery side of the solenoid to a toggle for the ignition and a push button for the starter. Run a wire from the normally closed side of the toggle through a ballest resistor and then to the positive side of the coil. Run the other wire from the normally closed side of the push button to the "s" terminal on the solenoid. Turn the toggle on push the button and away you go.

Skip the ballast resistor and just buy a coil that has one built in and run 12V directly to the coil. That is what I did.

I would use a screwdriver to start the truck, that is the best anti-theft method. hehe
