Talking Hypertech Power Programmers

My Dad got one of these for his '03 F350 7.3L and has had good luck with it But I do not know much about them as far as how "good" they are for the trucks...and even when you put it back to stock to bring it in, can they tell if ford hooked it up to their computer and would it void warrranty....

Well chick...notice there have been no responses to your post as of yet.

I imagine that many are laying back waiting for someone to be the first to pull the trigger in this ongoing programmer war.

Hopefully this will not end the cease fire.

Let me just say this about your questions. Yes programmers can void your warranty if proven to be then root of a given failure. Typically would not void an entire warranty.

It is my understanding that the Predator (which many of us have) programer can be removed and reinstalled basically removing immediate evidence of a programmer. The Superchip however, cannot. Which can cause problems at any given dealership.

I am sure that now that the target has been displayed the shooting will start. Be ready to duck.

Now I have to be honest here --- does the superchips leave some indication it has been there ? cuz I dunno ?!?!?!

other than that - KW is right on....

the will make out truck like the big sports car you want it to be

but my vote would go for the diablo programmer from Motorhaven here :

OOPS...I thought I heard it here on one of our threads. It was my understanding that Superchips left a footprint.

Apparently I am badly mistaken.

Apologies to all if that is the case.

Why get a Predator and not SuperChip? Predator reads codes and clears codes. Updates are free and quick. Just download off the Internet and upload to the Predator. I understand you have to mail in the SuperChip. If you are technically inclined, there is a lot of live diagnostics on the Predator. It is those differences that made the difference for me since price and performance are close from what I hear. Performance info is readily available on the Predator from real users.

Now is the time for the Predator and SCMT to jump in and flame me.

As evidenced by MY bias -
I HAVE the predator...
best bang for the buck of ANY performance mod....

TRUE, verified minimum +100 horsepower at the REAR WHEELS....
no funny charts and farts to try and disguise the issue... just a dyno chart or two in my and choctaw bob's gallery's at a VERY HOT dyno day in Texas...

and if you can stay out of it on the 65HP setting
(VERY hard to do without the passenger seated speed limiter )
you WILL get better mpg !

but I have to warn you - you will have sore cheeks from the predator grinnin !

do call the Motorhaven staff here... (sorry - that's not me ) and see if they have any unadvertised specials on it and maybe an exhaust kit combo...

JDADAMSJR: Are you saying that using the PREDATOR +65 hp setting, your truck dynoed at 375 RWHP?? Could you list any other mods that you are running??

I was reading around the SUPERCHIPS site, they claim +80,+120,+150HP settings. I do like the features of the Predator, but the gains on the Superchips seem worth the sacarifice of the other features.
Besides how many times do you view the live data when you are driving or working on your truck?

Talking HyperTech PPIII

I've had the PPIII unit in my '01 7.3 since 12500, now 111,000. I have had no problems with the engine, trans or anything, other than new front rotors. The PPIII is plenty for what I use mine for (towing my 5th whl rv) and general highway use. I don't know if it leaves a mark when removed or not. I do know that it has never been an issue when I've taken it is for services.

Bill in KY

BTW I just ordered my '05 PSD 4X4, XLT trim, SC, long bed, cap'ns chairs etc.
