Options to indenify specific A4LD model

Options to indenify specific A4LD model
I called to get pricing on a reman A4LD tranny but they want to know which one since they list 4 for my 93 Ranger (V6 4.0L) 4x2.
They said check the tranny oil pan for a tag.. no such luck. Then I read there is a id tag on the lower left extension assembly bolt. Yep there us a tag but to corroded to make out anything. Certaintly wasn;t imprinted very deep to begin with sicne the corrosion isn't that bad.
So is there any other way to determine which one I have and is there really a big difference between them? Can they figure it out via the VIN number?
