Good year . All I can say is check the front wheel bearings and drive B4 you drive and check for vibration of any kind. make sure the power is there...
I just traded my 2001 v-10 in on a 2004 PSD a couple months ago. The v-10 was a great engine. I had 66,000 miles on it when I traded it in and never had any engine problems (very few non engine problem either). You should have no trouble towing a 28' with it. I towed an 8000# 30' travel trailer 3400 miles from MI to FL to SC to MI (lots of big hills) with no trouble last summer.
See my sig. I tow a 32ft 8000 lbs TT. Towed from Oz to Yellowstone this summer. Only worked it hard in elevations above 6000 ft. I have had no major issues with my truck. You will not be able to get the grin off your face.
I tow a 29ft TT with mine, and I love it. I haven't towed with it since adding the SuperChips Microtuner, but if the power I gained empty is any indication, I can't wait to see how well it performs when towing...
Towed a 37' fifth wheel from Detroit to Phoenix for the past 3 years and that 2001 with a V10 is an awesome animal..... the engine has been great and there aren't any hills (on Interstates) that it hasn't been able to go up at at least 50 mph...... I'd recommend it!!!!!
2001 was a good year, and no real problems. My 2000 has been virtually flawless except for a tranny bearing that Ford covered. 2001 should have been the end of the "stripped sparkplug" issue.
I'm picking up a 2001 F350 DRW 2WD XLTsupercab Monday. It has only 24,000 miles on it, and has always been garaged winters. It's like new. We paid $18000 for it and can't wait to get it after seeing the replies here. It will be used spring, summer, and fall for a slide-in camper. Almost 5,100 lbs. of payload for this truck, should get the job done. I just sold a 2003 Dodge 2500 4x4 quad, slt,SB, cummins for $31,000. We think we have alot of truck for alot less money.
