RE: Paint

I'm sure someone out there has had their BII painted, we have the paint pealing, I know Ford had some bad years with paint, anyways my question is once repainted will it peal like this again? Is it the paint or the primer that causes this? Want to know before we go in for the paint job.
Thanks

RE: Paint

I think the only year they had the problem was 1986. But anyway to answer your question as long as you sand down to the metal and re-prime the whole truck your new paint shouldn't chip off. It was just the type of primer ford used for that year. Good Luck!

RE: Paint

Had the same prob with my 90 BII ... they told me it was mostly with the silver and grey. Ford paid to have it redone years ago but it did NOT last. Was peeling again within 3 or 4 years and they wouldn't touch it again. I have no idea if they just painted over the existing paint or what .. just know it has been a bad paint job from the beginning.

RE: Paint

I am having this happen with my `88 green paint. Oddly enough the clear coat seems to be burning. The Tan portion of the paint is great tho. I am slowly stripping off the clear-coat, but should I just sand the entire truck down and re-paint it?
