Check the mass air sensor, take the air filter intake apart till you can see the sensor.Spray some starting fluid on the wire element to clean any oil or build up off. let it dry for a few minutes and put it all back together.A chip will not solve a surging problem unless you have changed a bunch of stuff and the calibrations are off.A bad throttle position sensor will do the same thing also.

Hum well here is another part of the problem. I took the rig to Auto Zone to get the code read. The reader would not power up and the motor would not start until we disconnected the code reader. So that did not help. Next step disconnect the battery for an hour to see if resetting the computer would work. No go there either. Is the mas air sensor the one that stick out of the side of the rubber boot that goes to the air cleaner? If so how do you take it out?

Iac
Tazz,
Have you tried unplugging the idle air control valve wires while the engine is running to see if it still surges???? I just had the same problem and when I unplugged the wires on the IAC, the surges stopped. After cleaning it with carb cleaner and disconnecting the battery to reset the computer...surge is gone.
