I snugged it down a tad too much, and the head twisted off. I've got a heck of a feeling Ford doesn't just sell the petcock, you've gotta buy the whole radiator to get a new petcock. A call to the parts counter would be in order.
Anyone know how it's attached inside the radiator? I figure I can use an easy-out to get the plastic screw out of the drain hole, or is there something better to use on plastic??
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no stinkin' luck at all!
I would look up a radiator repair and rebuild shop near you and call them. If it can be done easily they will know how and can sell you the parts or at least direct you to someone who can. I have not done the one I have now but the shop I supervise in maintains a fleet of a thousand plus Volvos, used to have a few hundred Fords with the plastic radiators and the pet***** were a snap-in plastic dude that cost all of $1.69, but that was with company discount and six or seven years ago.
The Ford dealer sells them. I have broken two of those little devils (so far). The part number for my '00 is FOAZ-8115-A, but I am not sure that will be the right one for your '02. If memory serves me correctly, I paid about $5 for them at the dealer. On my truck, the part just slides in and is held in by a little rubber O-ring, and then screws in the rest of the way. If the threads are backed out all the way, then you should be able to grasp it with a pair of small needle-nose pliers and pull it the rest of the way out. This is, of course, assumming that yours is like mine.........
