Is # 8 injecter different ?
I had my 99 powerstroke at the Ford garage today because of a miss and rough ilde. They scaned it and said # 8 injecter was missing. I asked them the cost for the injecter and they $330.00 I asked why so much. They said # 8 is different than the rest. Anyone know if it is different? By the way that $330.00 is the cost of the injecter not the labor to put it in.
Is there a good place out there to buy injecters?

#8 injector is different. I don't know the specific differences, however, a change was made in #8 to address an issue that developed in the field. The problem was isolated to #8 injector only. As far as buying an injector, if you're thinking of installing it yourself, take a look at a service manual to see what's involved. I think you'll agree (as I did) to let someone else do the labor.

As long as you have some spare time and some common sense, changing an injector is cake. I just did a full set of injector O-rings (removing and replacing all 8 injectors), and besides the time involved, the work was easy... Do a search, there's a couple great website links to pages that detail the process. Save yourself the $$$...

Max- here try this link out for directions on how to replace the injectors. Very Doable by anyone who knows the differance between a wrench and a ratchet.
