91 f150...had some play in steering box so after adjusting the screw on top i snuged down the lock nut BUTTTTT snuged it to much i think.. now the lock nut keeps turning and wont snug up ( adjustment screw stays in the same location)..my question is did i snap the thread thing on the top cover and will this screw up the steering...is the thread thing on the cover or is it an internal part that comes up from under the cover...if its part of the cover are these box covers replaceable......dont ya just hate it when these things happen....thanks
Does it feel like it is stripped or broken off? In either case I would pull it apart and fix it. You will have to drive it to see what affect it has on the steering. But don't take chances, it is easier to fix a truck than a person. The steering could go while you are driving. Good luck with it.
thanks for replying...think its the pitman shaft adjustment screw that feels broken..i snuged down the lock nut then felt it give way so now it turns along with the adjustment screw..been trying to find out how that screw is attached to the pitman shaft and how to replace it...been looking for the part to and cant locate any..trying not to go 200$ or so for a box if its only a small cheap part i can replace...thanks
