I'm trying to clean the evaporater coil and drian pan in my 1998 F-150 Ext Cab. There is a strong mold smell coming from the air conditioner. I beleive it's giving me sinus trouble. I have the dash removed except for the last major piece which runs from door to door and I still can't access it. It's behind that last piece of dash board. There has got to be a better way.
I keep the truck in a garage most of the time. I don't think ther are any rain leaks causing the mold smell. A good a/c cleaning would take care of it but it seems to be to big of a job to access the coil.
The blower fan on a 1998 is inside the vehicle. You can remove it to spray in a foaming antibacterial cleaner, or if you have something with a nozzle hose you may only have to remove the blower resistor. We use a canister with a flexible hose on it, that you pour the liquid into and then pressure it up to about 150 lbs with an air hose. That flex hose will access through the blower resistor opening.
