hard starting
Hey, my wife has an F250 powerstroke and its getting a little hard to start when its cold, the last few mornings have only been in the 70s. When its hot in the day, 95plus, it starts okay even if it hasn't been started for a couple of days. I looked in a Chilton and a Mitchells manual but they really had nothing on the PSD glow plugs. efore I take a trip to the main library downtown can any body tell me how to check the glow plug system?

first thing you want to do is look at the glow plug relay. it is under the cover on top of the motor, looks like a starter relay. if it is burnt looking on one of the posts, replace it. this is the weak link in the system. if that is not it, check the wiring harnesses where they go under the valve covers. look for sings of melting at the grommet or plug there, this is the next most common problem. usually if the harness is burnt the injectors are not firing also, causing rough running.
