I have an airaid intake in my 99 f150 with a 5.4L v8. The air intake is pretty dirty on the outside but everytime I take it to the shop to get an oil change I ask them to clean the filter but they dont they say it doesn't need it. I would like to clean it anyway since they wont. Is there anything special I need or can I just take it off and stick the hose inside it and clean it out? thanks
Not familiar with Airaid but if like K&N there are cleaners you can buy to clean them.
You just take the filter out, spray it with the cleaner and let it sit for 20 min. Then hose it off and let it dry completely before reinstall.
I wouldn't use the oil it comes with on your MAF system. I have heard they can damage the MAF sensor. This is prob why they didn't want to touch it. Replacing with a new dry one removes the liability from them.
Thanks for the info. I went to airaids website, dont know why I didn't think of this before, and found that they sell a cleaner kit and it has instructions for it, only 10 bucks so I think I can accually swing that.
Thanks again
