stock rim size

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone knows what the stock rim size was for a 1949 Mercury Pickup. I am pretty sure that it is a half ton. Right now I think there are 15's on it but I don't know if thats correct. Anyway, I am going to be putting wide whitewalls on it and want to make sure everything is correct. Thanks for any help.Jordan

I am pretty sure that you are right, they were 15" rims.

Smile Rim Size

It was only when I got around to sandblasting my rims that I noticed that I had three different size wheels. They were all 15 inch, but the widths varied. I think straight stock was 6 inch. I had two of those. The others were 6.5 and 7 inch. I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference in my case with the stock 215 motor...I don't move very fast.

If it's a half ton it should be 16x4.5. Nice to see another Mercury is progress.
