Starter won't kick in
Pull up to gas station for re-fuel.
It is a 94 F150 4x4 V8 302 cui 5.0 liter engine with automatic transmission.
After I push the vehicle 30 feet away from the bump, I was able to get it to start. Park overnight, can't start the engine.
Turns the ignition key I hear the clicking noise. But the starter won't turn.
I have replaced the starter and the solenoid.
Also replaced the solenoid switch near the battery.
Try to start in Park and also in Neutral.
Looking for any help any one can give to trouble shoot.
Make SURE you have clean batt contacts (providing the battery is indeed good) from the battery to starter and battery to ground.
The other possibility is the ignition switch or wire from the ignition switch to the relay.
Since it is clicking, I would rule out the switch and wiring (for now).
Make sure the battery terminals and cable ends are shiny clean, not just corrosion free. Make sure the ground cable is good by moving it around pretty good and trying it agian. Often they will either break down internally or at the ends (not visible).
I once hade a starter go out and after replacing it the car still wouldn't start. Took back the starter for another.....same thing. Finally got smart and pulled starter and bench tested it out of the car. It worked fine. Put it in and nothing. The battery post's and ends 'looked' clean, grey like usual but clean. Pulled out my pocket knife and shined them up and it turnewd right over.
