2001 Limited Explorer

Hello everyone!

I was wondering, (I know its possible, just might be unheard of), could a person take off the fender and running board cladding without having extensive bodywork done???? It appears that these add-ons for the Limited's is simply a bolt/screw on. So, the appearence would be that of a Sport or XLT models....

If anyone has done such a task, I'd like to hear about any troubles....

Also, has anyone removed the roof rack including the 'runners' that run down the roof line? THis I realize would require filler and paint....but would clean things up...

Thanks for any help and or direction,

Metauser....

I don't know about the fenders, but there are large holes under the running boards, the runners on the roof rack are RIVETED on the roof & the side rails are screwed into some pretty serious anchors.

There are plastic connectors that running every few inches the length of the running boards, going into the sheetmetal underneath the doors.
