Less oil this time

Sometimes when I have given it a little punch I have experienced a slow response from my 6.0l almost like it was a little sluggish. After reading some of the other posts I tried filling the oil to only 3/4 on the dipstick on my last oil change and that seems to have made all the difference in the world. It has a lot more get up and go and I haven't experienced the hesitation. Anyone else found that to have worked well. Something still causes me to be concerned not filling it right to the full mark. I guess it is just a little paranoia.<O</O

Well remember - it still has 13 or so quarts in there - which is a LOT of oil

gassers have drowned in less oil

Remember that there is about a quart and a half that stays up in the high pressure system when you change oil. Plus Ford has come out and said if it is above the "Min" mark on the dipstick, don't add more oil. So, don't worry.

All so, I think it was Tim,
Went down to a dealer and measured several dip sticks. (the one's in the engine) and none of the measurments were consistent with each other.
So, Keep it in the middle, and you will be fine.

Don't ask me how but the shop put 12qt in my wife's Buick v6 once. It was sluggish taking off, with puffs of white/blue smoke, which got worse when we cornered. I checked the stick and it was unsually high, but I thought nothing of it and figured I could drain off a qt or 2 to not waste the fresh oil and it'd be fine. I tried the drain/plug/let sit/recheck 3 times without success. At that point I decided to dump it all and start over myself. Luckily I had a 15qt pan. Couldn't believe the v6 had that much empty capacity in the block.

Thanks for the insight. It sounds as though this might be the reason for the hesitation when I've tried to accelerate at times also.
