Tow package codes?

When I'm look at used Expeditions, and want to be able to tell if the optional tow package is installed.

I think the code for the '03-'04 is 536 (?). Where would I find this code? On the driver's door jamb lable?

Anyone know the codes for '00-'02 and where they are located?

Thanks guys!

Sorry B, I don't know the codes, but its pretty easy to tell by looking at it. Just look for the factory frame hitch (usually rusty after a year or two ), and the angle mounted 7-pin wiring harness on it. You can also further tell by looking for a tranny oil cooler in front of the A/C condenser (don't be misled by the power steering oil cooler that they all have). Most X's especially the 5.4's and Eddie Bauer's have the tow package. I have a Y2K Xpe EB 5.4L 4X4, and its one of the only ones I've seen that doesn't have the trailer package. It sucks b/c I'm one of the few people that actually tow a lot with my SUV (3500# 20' hardtop travel trailer, dual axle car trailer, and what ever else wicked comes my way). If you get a really good deal on a non tow package X you can always add the oil coolers and hitch, unless having the bigger alternator and ?radiator are really needed by you. Like I said, I tow hard with mine, and it has performed very well so far.
