I have a 2004 F-150 FX4 4X4 Flareside and I have decided on the Borla but I am having trouble deciding to go out the back or the side. Have heard that there is low or high end torque loss out the back. Don't know if that was with the Borla or something else or a different pipe diameter. Any opinions? I probably like the look out the side better but could live with out the back.
The best setup for trucks and towing is a single out the side. What is the diameter of all the pipes in question? When I change mine out, I will stick with the side exit. It seems everyone and their uncle run duals now! Its gotten to the point that a stock exit exhaust is the new minority.
I am looking at exhaust systems as well. I was gonna get a CORSA then my friend recommended BORLA. I was just curious what made you decide to go with BORLA.
Just from reading all the threads on exhausts from this forum and the F150 online forum. There is a lot to read. Haven't heard anything bad about Borla and I didn't want anything overly loud especially at highway speed and everyone that has Borla says it sounds just like stock inside the cabin when cruising down the road and that appealed to me. Now if I can just decide to go out the side or the back.
Do you have a website that sells the BORLA at a good price I have looked everywhere and have not found it for the 2004 F150 5.4. I like the way the rear exhaust looks and was thinking about that system. I too like the quiet setup until you get on it. Also do you know where I might be abloe to hear the systems in audio files. Thanks
I have read where guys have been getting them on Ebay or do a google search for Borla exhaust. Also you can download a search helper called Copernic. It has a free download or one you pay for that gives you more searchs and other stuff.

Performance wise is there much difference between side or dual? Or is it just a case of cosmetics?
Has anyone put flowmasters or something of the like on a 4.6? I have a Scab STX that I would like to put some exhaust on as well. Not looking for any increased performance, just sound. I don't want it too too loud, but I want people to know that I have flows on it. Also, would flows on the 4.6 sound like a mustang with flows? I know the engines may be set up different, but would that make a difference in sound? Can someone please explain?
I just installed a flowmaster 50 series on my stx 4.6. I had mine routed out the side infront of the rear tire on the passenger side just like they are on a lightning, Let me tell you it sounds awsome, its single in dual out by the way.
I have Flowmaster 40 Series DOR (pix in gallery) on my 4.6 STX. They sound great and I get lots of comments about the tone! I would imagine it sounds similar to a Mustang GT with Flows. Maybe a little deeper tone with the extra torque.
Bought the cat-back kit from JEGS for $399 and installed them myself. Paid a local shop $20 to weld the seams. You can probably buy the muffler and have a shop custom make the pipes for less than I paid for mine.
