A group of us are planning to head up to McCaslin the 2nd weekend in October 9-10. Not sure if we are heading up there friday or saturday am, but will be there for sure all day saturday. If anyone else wants to join us.
KJ- we have been trying to get a hold of anyone at the campground- we wanted to check the avail of the cabin. Do you know if they are to still be open this weekend?? If they will be open wheeling at the campground- can you stay at a hotel in Crivitz? any cheap clean hotels in Crivitz?
Mike/Kristen (I never know which one of you are typing this stuff)
I called Mike at McCaslins and they are open. They have the cabin and all the trailers rented out for this weekend though. I guess a lot of people are gonna be wheelin' this weekend.
He gave me the numbers to two places near by that rent cabins and I called them both.
Prospect Lodge (715-276-7222) is about 5 miles west (towards Lakewood) and they have a 3 bedroom cabin with an additional pull-out and all the ammenities. It will hold 6-8 people and he gets $110/night plus tax. Someone else is looking to rent it for the weekend and is supposed to be calling him back tonight.
Rapids Resort (715-757-3358) is right next to Kosirs Rafting (about 5 miles east) and they have a few 2 bedroom cabins with an additional pull-out and all the ammenities. It's $95/night for 4 people and $10/night for each additional person (up to 6 total).
I don't know how many people are going so I don't know exactly what you'd need. I, myself, will either camp (in a tent like a REAL man) or stay at my brother's place. However, if you want to get as many people into a cabin as possible to make it cheaper, I'm up for that too.
Hope this helps. Let me know what you decide to do and if there's anything else I can do.
Thanks kevin, for doing some checking. I would figure the area should be in a peak color, hence why it is busy! I will make a few calls and see what the rest of the plan is- I think there are 5-6 trucks going. Is there a motel in lakewood too? Might be up for another cabin. I will let you know ASAP.
I just talked to my sister-in-law and she can't think of any motel-type places off hand. I'll look them up on the web in the morning. There's gotta be some sort of lodging up there.
Is it safe to assume that you guys are definately going then?
Let me know when you know for sure so I can inform my activities director.
we are for sure a go. Should roll into the campground at 8ish. The rest of the clan is heading up friday nite- but from past experiences with this bunch they should get to the campground at the earliest midnite! Plan for camping- at the campground- got sites- so if you want to pitch a tent that would be ok. We plan to wheel all day saturday-spend saturday nite- and then head home sunday morning- so there is still part of sunday to rest.
