Help,
My '88 Bronco II has a new automatic transmission. Since the day I picked it up it has been acting strange it shifts great. But when you let off the gas the RPM's fall back to idle speed and then it has to rev back up before it will pull. Also it is running at 3000 rpms when runing 60 Mph I think that is a little higher than it was before.
The tranny in your truck is a Ford A4LD, assuming it has Over Drive. There is a rebuild kit available cheap ($80) on netgearhead.com. I know this because I have to rebuild mine as well. You can also put a C-5 trasmission in which will withstand the power of a light 302, with some modification. Until you replace or rebuild (rebuilding is cheaper) don't plan any trips. Mine just went out and didn't give any warning.
So what you are saying is that the tranny is not working right and needs to be rebuilt? I really hope not this is a rebuilt tranny. So is there any other problems that could cause this to happen.
Curt
You just had the tranny rebuilt? Okay, have you checked the fluid? What seems to be happening is when you let off the gas it is slipping into nuetral, which is not supposed to happen right off the bat. After that you should not have to wind the engine back up to get it to accelerate again. Did you have the work done at a shop, or did you do it yourself? Did you replace teh torque converter when the rebuild was done or not?
