Tranny temp

I have been surprised how quickly the tranny temp gauge climbs up to its operating temp., it does not over heat or anything but often it beats the engine in warming up to its operating temp. Is there a thermostat involved with the transmission or something else that accounts for this?

Must be something. Mine will be sitting at ambient, say 65 deg F, and climb to 165 deg F fairly quickly and then hover there. If I'm towing or stuck in city stop and go traffic it will climb to the 190s.

Mine does the same thing whether I tow my 8000 lb trailer or not.
FMC took all of this in consideration with the tow package, so
I do not worry about.

I have found the stock guage is not accurate. The aftermarket unit sits on the very bottom until I tow something or climb steep grade.

I believe it's an indicator, not a real gage. Once above a set temp it indicates in the normal range.
