I hanve a 99 F350 with a v10 that has a thrown rod but i have a fresh 6.9L. The only problem is i donn't know if the 6.9L will bolt up to the 5spd out of the 99 V10. help me please
hmm, sounds like hes gonna need mounts for the PSD as well, or will they fit the 6.9? Gonna need mounts for the frame as well. That setup will get alot of weird looks when you open the hood.
I had a chance to get a 96 F350 PSD for 1200 dollars with a toasted engine. I passed on it because I did not think the electronic dash would work since the computer would have to go. That would be a hard thing to retro fit non computer controlled insturmant panel to a 96 truck. The 99 will present the same problem for you.
Transmission will not work from a gasser to a diesel.
I think the 6.9 motor mounts will work though.
the '96 Dak should have been easy because they came with 318 and 360s, 340 used the same mounts as the 360s. That musta been one heck of a little toy though.

The dash and interior out of a 80-86, and 87-91 would have worked in a '96 and would have worked with the 6.9L.

The new 318"s use diffrent mounts than the old small blocks. new engines have both but the old engines don't have both. new mounts mustbe made for installing a 340 into a dakota
Oh right they have them big round ones, I forgot about that, the vans kept the old style truck mounts though so I guess that leaves me wide open for mods on it. Like a 440
Hi this sounds interesting and do able. I would look up 4x4gearmasters.com or call 601-799-2229 or advance adapters. I couldn't find the phone number, but both of these places specialize in engine and tranny swaps. But they may be able to make an adapter. Will bell housings swap? One more place geartechhd.com or 601-898-4552.
I am new to this forum. I own a 93 idi ext cab with single 6" straight pipe with an adjusted wastegate and turned up pump.
get a ford zf 5 speed off a 87-97 truck with a 7.3 7.3 and 6.9 same bell housing, im sure you could figure out how to make the clutch work.... but why do you want to do this to a like-new truck....? lemme guess you dont like electronics either
You can get a running v-10 from some of the mustang parts places a lot cheaper than swapping in that 6.9. I know it's not what you want to hear, but an honest friend will tell you things you don't always want to hear either.
i know that those trucks with the v-10's have like a 4.30 gear ratio in the rear end a lot of the time (im not sayinbg all the time) but if it does, then the truck would run like....80 wide open and on top of that get horrible fuel milege, but if you dont care about that, do it, i have a 454 and a t-350 in my 85 1/2 ton chevy, gets 6 mg, runs like a champ tho, git-er-done
